Part of IT’s History

Well, it is well known that there are many changes in the Information Technology industry, but there are many things that are disappearing now.

Last march, netizens cried over the fact that Netscape, which was the most dominant Internet browser 12 years ago, has been eliminated from the industry forever. The low industry dominance of 0.6% has forced it out of the industry.

The following is the farewell of the Polaroid camera, which have a history of more than 60 years. Polaroid, whichj has been a great invention, is now a history of camera.

Also, AT&T announced that it will cut the pay phone service which have a history of 129 years. In 1998, there used to be 2500000 pay phone, but now it has decreased significantly to 1000000 due to increasing cell phone use.

In addition, it is assumed that the CRT moniter will be hard to find, due to the fact that Samsung SDI and LG Display is halting production of the main component of the CRT moniter, the CDT.

Also, CD will be out of the industry forever. According to a recent statistic, more than 50% percent of american teens have bought no CDs this year. This was the effect of increasing amount of MP3 files in P2P programs.

Just a little difference may have killed a person

“The astronauts could have been burnt into pieces when re-entering the atmosphere”.

When the 3 cosmonauts including Korea’s first astronaut, So Yun Lee, re entered the atmosphere, there was a high possibility of being burnt alive into pieces, according to Comersant, one of Russia’s top newspaper. It reported that the re-entering attitude of the Soyuz TMA-11, has been wrong because of a mysterious factor. It descended toward the ground with the hatch heading toward the ground. If that was the case, there is a high possibility of the hatch melting down. If so, the astronauts could have easily been dead. However, the most dangerous situation passed away when the landing module started to adjust its angle, and began to descend in the right position. Well, just a little difference may have killed 3 people.

Myspace launched in Korea

The biggest social network service (SNS), MySpace, has been launched in Korea. MySpace made its own official korean website (kr.myspace.com).

>>About MySpace>>

MySpace is kind of a blog service that enables users to decorate their own hompages usnig musics, video clips, picture, and text. It is also one of the biggest network that enables users to make friends with each other.

>>The Korean Launch>>

According to AP, MySpace launched its MiniLog service for its Korean launch. Also, the color of the main page of MySpace has been changed a little.

MySpace plans to enable users to share musics, video clips and etc, despite the languages that one speaks. MySpace is becoming entusiastic, expecting that Korean people will be excited to make friends from many other country.

>>The doubts>>

But it is highly doubtful that MySpace will be much of that success, mainly because Cyworld, the nation’s local SNS service is predominant in the SNS industry, and also because of the fact that many other foreign internet services, including Google (Which is the No.1 search engine in most part of the world), and Second Life (Which is very popular in other countries including the US) is just struggling to survive in this local-company predominant country.

Windows/Mac can be hakced, Linux is safe!!!

At the OS Hacking Competition, Microsoft Windows and Mac Leopard was hacked, while Linux was not. The hacking competition took place at Canada, Vancouver, starting from March 26th, and endingr at March 29th.  Among the 3 Operating System (OS), that was hacked, only Linux survived the hacking. Participators choose one of the OS they will hack: their choice was among Windows Vista, Mac Leopard, and the Linux. It was held like this: The highest level competition took place at the first day, with rewards that was more than 20000 dollars, and the second day, which the “Intermediate level hacking competition” took place, had rewards of 10000 dollars, and the third day (Easy one) had rewards of 5000 dollars. The first OS to be hacked was the Mac Leopard, which endured less than 2 full days. Charley Miller, a Security system expert, first hacked the Mac using the Safari Browser. The second OS to be hacked, as one can see, is the Windows Vista. Windows Vista endured little more than 2 days, but had been hacked by Shine Mackerly, who used the JAVA system to avoid the security system of the Window Vista Service Pack 1. However, Linux endured all three days. Linux was the OS that was found with a lot of bugs, so it is quite surprising to see that it survived the attack from the professionals.

Apple will now be relased the 3G iPhone, in May, according to a report by the Associated Press. Apple is now selling 2G iPhones, that use the GSM system, but if the 3G iphone is released, it seems like that we will be able to video conference with our iPhones, and take advantage of the fast download speed: 3.6 Mbps. After analyst at the Bank of America, Scott Craig announced this high possibility, Apple’s stock rose 2.76 dollars, and ended at 143.01 dollars. Scott Craig presumed that Apple will develop its 3G iphone at May, and commercialize it using the AT&T network by June. That same day, it was reported that Apple made an agreement with HonHai, which is a company in Taiwan, to produce the 3G iphone. HonHai is already producing 2G iphone, which is currently sold.

Apple’s Steve Jobs said in London last year “We do not produce 3G iphone because of the lack of the battery time. Next year, we will release the 3G iphone with a better battery technology”. Some estimate that the 3G iphone will be first launched at the Apple Developer Conference, at June.
